Stay away from crispy fried food

For those of you who crave crispy fried foods like goreng pisang (fried bananas) and keledek (fried tapioca) as tea time time snacks, i think it's time you stop eating them. It's demands for such extra crispy snacks that's causing hawkers to come up with ingenious ways to keep them crispy for longer periods of time. And throwing plastic bottles and packets of plastic straws into the hot oil used for frying is just one of their unethical ways of doing business these days just so you keep coming back for more.

Do know that plastic bottles are made of polyvinyl chloride (PVC) which can cause various forms of cancer and birth deformities, if eaten. Other health hazards are aplenty. It may start with your hair falling off for instance. Well, if this only causes Hair Loss, then it's not too bad. But cancer can kill you. Hawkers really dont care if you die from eating those food or not. They just want money. Next time, when you eat out, do ask the hawkers not to put fried onions into your food. They most likely contain plastic materials in them. For nasi lemak lovers, those crunchy ikan bilis (anchovies) is also a killer. Think twice before putting them into your mouth.

Its such a norm to have pisang goreng and keledek for tea.....especially when you can get them at a stall right outside your house. Its shocking to hear about this throwing plastic bottles and straws into hot oil ....can't believe people would do such a thing. How did you get to know about this? This is serious stuff. Thanks a bunch for the warning.

Oh dear! Is it really true? I love crispy goreng pisang although I dont eat them too often. Would you know whether this is normal practise or only a handful of unethical seller do this?

Anyway thanks for sharing.

P/s If there is a way to know how their oil looks like when they fry it, or maybe certain taste to look for, that might help.
