What you've always wanted to know about caesarean birth
A girlfriend of mine will be delivering her baby soon. Her doctor advised her to have her baby out via caesarean due to placenta praevia (low lying placenta that's blocking her baby's route out). She's very afraid. Told me that it's getting harder and harder to sleep as the delivery draws nearer and nearer. She's done a fair amount of reading on caesarean births and of course, i've even burned a cd of Malcolm's incredible journey to Planet Earth - in full technicolor :) for her.
I sat by her all the time and explained the whole procedure to her in detail. She signed up for cordblood banking after seeing that the process is harmless and painless for both mother and child. She was initially very skeptic about cord blood banking at first even though her doctor has explained to her how it'll be done. I'm so glad i cammed the whole delivery process down. The hospital has since disallowed it, lucky me.
So, those who've not read about my baby's birthing process may want to bookmark or link to the post. Hopefully, the post will help moms-to-be (and dads-to-be too) who are concerned about undergoing c-sect. And in Malaysia, dads are NOT allowed into the surgery room with their wife, unlike natural births. It's assuring knowing what lies ahead of you beforehand. It's not as scary as what it seems to be. So, be prepared too and have fun reading.
