An unexpected event yesterday

I created history yesterday. I blogged earlier that i'd take Gordon shopping instead of going for my Obs appointment, right. So, when Gordon woke up at around 11am. I gave him his cereal with milk, and prepared him for the day's outing. While i was preparing his breakfast in the kitchen, i informed my MIL of my plans and invited her to join us.

She gave her usual negative reply. I've been getting this for like years, so, i kinda expected it also lah. So, as i was feeding Gordon, she passed by my room and asked if the both of us were ready to go out yet and that she'll be joining us for the afternoon out. Wahhhhh, so unexpected, man...... First time she goes on an outing with Gordon and i.

She drove us to Parkson and we arrived there at around 1.30pm. The very first place we stopped by was a diamond outlet. She enquired about platinum necklaces and found that the prices was not too appealing. Thousand plus for a miserable short chain. We then proceeded to her favourite goldsmith shop which she's been going to for like what? 30 years+... i dont know? Gets priority service and the likes accorded to all loyal and long-term customers.

She went to the counter with diamond rings and sat down to try some on. I tried on a few for the fun of it. I have plenty of gold jewellery which i seldom wear. I only wear the pair of diamond earrings she gave me, a chain with a cross and an occasional bracelet. I stopped wearing rings they get in the way of my work. And i hate soap getting stuck in it, not to mention lotion which i'm using on a daily basis now.

She gave me a pair of diamond earrings when i had Gordon. Maybe she's gonna get me something else this time round, hoh. Can it be? Hint.... hint.... bracelet...... i want bracelet....... Aiya, should have walked over to the bracelet counter......... She loves gold, like all wise and sensible jewellery buyers/wearers. At an all-time-high of Rm75/gm now..... cilaka, i think my own stash must be worth quite a bomb now.

Anyway, we proceeded to do our shopping. Bought a Thermos flask. MIL asked me to buy a bigger one but if i need a big one for the confinement period only, i might as well get a smaller one and borrow a bigger one from my sis/mom. It'll come in handy when i bring baby out and hot/warm water is needed. But then, i remembered seeing one old and forgotten bigger thermos stashed inside one of her cupboards before. Better go dig it out. MIL has plenty of forgotten kitchen gadgets.

I dont know what got into her yesterday, but she paid for my shopping stuffs. Mostly maternity and baby items. I didnt want to buy so much since i know she would not take my money even when i pay her back when i get back home. Have to make another trip somehow when hubby gets back from KL.

MIL and DIL bonding! My MIL never bother about me until I had my 3rd son, I oso got surprised (sweet) to see her buying things for me. Very touched hor? Happy bonding. Kehkehkehkeh.

Gold so expensive now? Wuah, last time my 99.9% gold was only RM36. Should have bought more. In case of war, can bring a stash of gold and run hor?

Got someone to pay but too shy to buy more ah? :P
It's always sweet to see MIL and DIL having a good relationship. Most people think MIL and DIL can't see eye to eye, but they're wrong.

5xmom - wah, u thk like my grandma's era meh, tie ur gold round ur waist and carry them everywhere with you all the time, kekeke

daddynick - aiya, me caesar kaki, how many can i have. 3 max perhaps? lets just hope a lil girl comes along when Malcolm's bigger. then, close shop for good.

shoppingmum - it's really entirely up to us whether we want the MIL/DIL relationship to work or not. It's not always a bed of roses. I've had my worst days in the beginning. And really, i've earned it thru the yrs of staying together..... patience....
