We desperately need a domestic helper.....
Day 37
Today's a glorious morning. MIL asked hubby out for breakfast and he took Gordon out with him. Wonder if she has something up her sleeves or not. The house is all quiet and peaceful now. And with no Gordon to climb up my chair and over my head as i type.
Aaaaahhh, isnt that bliss? If only this happens everyday. MIL came into my room a few nights ago and asked me to go hunt for a domestic helper. She doesnt want an indon maid. Just someone to come in and do the laundry, windows, floors and general cleaning up. Now, this is gonna give me a headache. Where am i going to conjure one up?
Year end holidays are just mere weeks away. And i havent planned anything yet. Maybe should even contemplate going away during Chinese New Year for a change, lol. But i doubt it as i organise a lunch reunion for my dear classmates every year on Chor 3. I'm still thinking of a change of venue for the reunion next year.
Gordon is growing up fast and getting more and more restless by the day. It's time to send him to a nursery to play with some friends his age. At least for the day. Next year will be a good time. He'll be 2 1/2 yrs old by the time school term starts. Cant wait for next year. Then, i can really sit at home and do practically nothing except get fat, hahaha.

There are quite a number of such helpers in yr area (assuming where I think u are staying is correct). However i understand most end up getting Indon/cambodian maids as these "part time" helper cost more than the maids. Probably becoz these part timers are local people. If u still very interested can sound out a few for u.
wah, with maid, u can then become a SAHM siew lai lai. One rank higher than "normal" SAHM.
You gotta be careful when choosing a domestic helper (or maids as they are so-called). Really good ones are hard to come by, but I suppose in their minds really good employers are hard to come by too, without touturing them to death (both literally and otherwise). A friend of mine hired a really good indon maid who can cook really well (but sometimes you gotta teach her the chinese/non-spicy method of cooking) and diligently cleans the house without any complaints. Plus, she gives a terrific body massage too. Of course, it goes without saying that as a result she's well rewarded - some of these maids live in poverty in their countries...
Anyway, good luck with your search!
Wai!!! Now can shake legs already ar??? lol If u do not want those Indonesian/foreign maids, and hire locals, I tell u it is very very expensive. (but of course Samm siew lai might consider cheap lar...LOL) Last time (when my father was still working, we can afford lar...) we got 1 local coming in once a week to do the windows and floors, they charge RM300. Once a week furthermore not every week they'll do all windows wor....
I got a solution for u... but dun tell your MIL I said so.... go move into those condos with hubby & Gordon lar... easy to maintain.
ipoh mali jugak - thx. my "runners" are searching for me now, lol.
jeremy c - got a good one in mind ledi, but have to contact her first.
helen - i've had enough of condo living back in KL.... sian. but really easy to take care, that's true. single storey house not much work mah.
a live-in maid will set you back a substantial amount in the initial payment. but you have her for 30days a month compared to a part-timer. but it all depends on your preference also cos some people dun like a stranger in the house.
2 1/2 is a good age to start Gordon in playgroups...lets him socialise with kids his age.
king's wife - that's MILs reason for hiring a local helper. an indon maid will average out to be Rm650/mth, right. one that comes in 3 times a week will be fine as there's really not much to do in such a small house. i'll just leave it to MIL to do the negotiating.
i just spoke with my sis on this and both hubby and i will be checking out nurseries soon. cant wait for him to have someone to play with. well, i'm not of much help tho in this area.... *sigh*
VERY IMPORTANT ! make sure the maid not prettier than u and don't dress sexy sexy also.
lin peh - aiya, u thinking i'll make one of those maid pornstar uniform for her to wear meh.... and yes, yes, yes. i agree must get one ugly one, hehe
Wow, you have the whole house to yourself.. That's peaceful!
Good time to start sending Gordon to nursery, but make sure mummy is not the one crying on day one hor. :P
neil - i think i can bear with half a day without him bugging me to death, hehe
zara's mama - i know i'll miss having him around the house during the day. but then, hoh, he'll get lots of playmates there, instead of only me at home.
