My Internet Life

It was way back in 1996 when i first heard of the word "internet". It all sounded so cool for a gadget freak like me. Having an "email address" on the name card is kinda like the next best thing to having Tiramisu for breakfast everyday. I didnt even have my own pc then. All i had wasmy handphone, and the Apple Newton. Wasnt i cool. I WAS an Apple user too :p

So, when the internet bug bit, i asked two toyboys boyfriends friends to help me configure a pc for me. i also got me the best modem, color printer and all that jazz. believe you me i know nuts what Windows 97 was. And when my pc was plugged in and turn on for the first time, i was truly truly mesmerized by the green desktop, lol.

One day, i went to 7-11 to buy some stuffs and saw an advertisement on the board there. For 80 bucks a session, the person will come to my place and show me how to get online using the internet. Ok, no big deal, and so i gave him a call. As for the person, i didnt know then that he's such a BIG NAME in the Malaysian blogosphere. Who leh.... ssshhh. Next time i tell, ok.

He came by one evening and we sat in front of the pc. He fiddled here, fiddled there, turned everything on, and i was so so eager to see what the online world looked like. I was just like a kid attending school for the first time. And guess what..... I DIDNT KNOW THAT I HAD TO SUBSCRIBE TO TMNET!!!! I had all the best gadgets and no internet account, niamah!!!!

The both of us looked at each other and dunno whether to laugh or what, lol. But he was very nice. I paid him for his time though we didnt get to show me anything at all. But we became friends and he promised he will come again to show me how to get online using my computer.i can even call him up in the middle of the night should i get "stuck" online, lol. Wasnt he nice?

I love going online. It was love at first sight. Nothing gives me more thrill than to sit in front of the computer all day long. I was self-employed and can afford to do just that back then. I'm still doing the same thing now. When i first went online, i've never heard about blogs, blogging platforms and such. To me, everything is a website, period. As to how to create website, i havent got a clue.

Everything looked so complicated last time. My friend told me he built his by scratch, he had to learn HTML, programming, codes and dunno what else to create his website. Unlike now, we have blogging platforms and website builders to get newbies started. I used Blogger when i started this blog, my first. You really wouldnt want to know how many blogs i own now, lol.
