CASH IS KING!!!!
Hubby told some this morning that we are so heading for recession what with Singapore retrenching Malaysian workers from their territory. He was saying then numbers are as high as tens of thousands when i corrected him by saying its roughly 300k in total. He was doubtful and went to his favorite news portal to confirm my words, lol. Wuah... my lk hoh, these days, he dem cun. Goes online to check on things, muahahahaha.
Next, our Gahmen said sometime back that we're all fine, our economy is strong and we can absorb all the retrenched workers and hinted that we're better off than our neighboring country. Niamah. How are you going to place 300k workers overnight. Most of our industrial/service/manufacturing/xxx sector is already invaded by foreign workers. Do you think they'll send them all packing and hire our locals? As if those lansi retrenched-from-Sg-workers will work in our low paying factories.
What else can they do? Sweep the streets? C'mon. If i've worked in Singapore before with such a favorable exchange rate of around 2.3 at time of writing. Unless i'm really desperate for money, i really cannot foresee myself working for peanuts. Our dear Gahmen and the people high up there have never experienced what's it's like to be the ordinary citizen. One that's trying to make ends meet on an everyday basis. One that has to endure the ever rising cost of living and dwindling savings, especially those in the cities.
Food prices that have gone up during the petrol price hike back in June will never come down. So, dont expect this so-called power-of-consumer to push them down again. The inflation was created overnight. So many businesses died in less than two months. Who is going to help them reover? I have friends in the food business and this is what they tell me. They are just part of the people who've raised the prices of their food over the past few months. Though price of petrol have decreases by half since the hike and suppliers have also decreased theirs, they are so NOT going to decrease theirs.
Petrol is not the only thing that's gone up. Electricity tariff is another one. My electrical bill now stands at around 450 matter how much i try to cut down on usage. Oh, maybe by 20 bucks or so if i'm lucky, choiiiiiii. Merely enough to feed my small family of four. My hubby's project also cannot take off as we have to look-see-look-see what happens next. These days, cash is king. The more cash you have, the more opportunity you have. Not that we have much lah. But with the current ecenomic situation, it's till better to lie low and wait first. End of rant....
