Do i knit for others?
Sweetpea of Bubba Stuff posted this comment after visiting my hobby blog, Fibre Art. It reads: "hey have u considered knitting for other wor?"
Frankly speaking, i only knit for hubby, kids and myself. And of cos, i've knitted a few for my best friend before. Simply becos she's my best friend. There's a reason why i seldom or no longer knit for others. You see, there was once when a close friend's mother liked my work so much and requested that i knit her a blouse. She actually wanted an exact copy of her favorite blouse which is old and worn. I took a look and told her i'll do my best as yarn texture differs. Hers is a machine-knitted blouse and the difference between hand-knitted and machine-knitted pieces is that the latter is flatter and lacks texture as opposed to hand-knitted ones. I am able to reproduce the exact pattern and cut as well.
Since she's my friend's mother, i did it for her out of goodwill in less than 4 days but that knnccb complain like hell. I did it so well that even the yarnshop who helped me with the pattern and cutting praised my workmanship. Too stretchy, too long, holes too big, can see bra... blah, blah, blah, NIAMAH. So, i unraveled the whole thing and knitted a bag for my sis with the yarn, lol. Hence, end of my knit-for-others goodwill forever. I tell you, they wont appreciate the amount of work that goes into it if they've never held two knitting needles before. I'd rather knit lots of beautiful pieces for myself and make others envy instead, lol. Pure self-satisfaction.... cannot meh??
