Alcohol and liver damage
Excessive alcohol consumption is still the single most common cause of toxic liver damage. Alcohol damages the liver by various mechanisms:
1) Increases free radical damage to the liver cells.
2) Weakens the parenchymal (liver) cell membrane by attacking lipids in the membrane affecting its integrity.
3) Attacks the mitochondria (power plants) membranes and impairs the production of cellular energy, which is much needed for the liver to carry out its function.
The liver doesnt have any sensory (pain) nerves in it. So, liver disease normally does not cause pain. If you drink alcohol regularly, over time, you may develop a fatty liver ( a milder form of liver damage caused by alcohol consumption), and may cause more serious liver problems.
A fatty liver looks large and yellow because there is more fat in the liver cells. Fatty liver does not cause any specific symptoms and is a reversible condition. However, if left untreated, it can lead to inflammation, cell death and fibrosis, and eventually cirrhosis.
Give your liver a detox by drinking chlorophyll. Brings down liver "heat", and helps with the detoxification process. It's one of the most natural way to purify the blood in your system and helps the body replenishes its red blood cells. You can either make it from fresh alfalfa leaves or buy a bottle from your nearest health store.
