The Baby Item Your Grandma Loves To Use Most & Would Rather Die If Without

Baby sarong/hammock/buai/yiu lam.... call it wateva you want.

After much mental debate with myself, i finally dug out the dreaded ultimate baby gear. Borrowed from my sis when i was pregnant with Gordon. It's known as the hammock. Diu.... sarong lah. Gordon never wanted to sleep in that. I dont know why. Maybe he knows the dangers associated with it. All i know is that once a baby sleeps in it, he'll want to sleep in it forever; refusing every other sleep item. Making sleeptime an even more harrowing experience for mothers. Especially for one who goes out a lot like me. Dont want baby to scream his lungs out when its time for his nap.

It's so darn comfortable that they fall asleep as soon as they're put into it. Cranky? Crying? No problem. Swing it a lil, and i guarantee you he'll snore in no time. But this thing requires CONSTANT monitoring as it's not a really safe item for your baby to sleep in. Mind you, can even die if baby falls out of it. Couple that with an ever inquisitive toddler, it's recipe for disaster. Unless you are one of those eat-full-nothing-to-do mother whose sole responsibility is only to keep an eye on their kids and do nothing else.

See, baby or no baby in it; even 2y 11m old Gordon can tilt/topple it. Scared or not, you tell me...

Well, Malcolm has no problem sleeping during the day, and only cries at night. Colic? No lah..... choi, choi, choi. I'm so gonna fake carrying him just this once by using it during nighttime, and only AFTER Gordon has gone to slumberland. I'll try it out tonight and see what happens. Hope it'll at least let me sleep uninterrupted for a couple of hours more.

Ahhhhh.... sanity restored; at least for the next few nights..... hopefully.....

I used to love the hammock when I was a baby. Regarding the safety aspect of it, my mom did told me that I dropped from it once before. Thankfully my mom placed this huge pillow at the bottom of it just in case. I reckon you should do it as well. :)

This used to be the ultimate indispensable tool when babies start crying in the middle of the night!! Not anymore meh?? lol Gosh, it had been so many yrs since I last held a baby.....

I thot they now had the modern mechanism which does the rocking movements? Expensive ler...

Actually, old fashion or not, the important thing is if it works. lol

sasha - cool oh hoh. damn mm seh tak cut his hair.... kept it since he was 3mths old and he'll be 3yrs old this mth.

hin ching - Malcolm is just an infant now. Will not toss nor turn in his sleep. So, no problem of him falling out shld i ever use it. But can only use when Kor-kor's asleep. If not..... headache

Helen - Frankly speaking, i kept it back inside the storeroom cos Gordon's driving me nuts playing with it... sien....

zara's mama - Song only leh for a while. But should i go gai-gai and leave Malcolm behind, MIL dont have to carry him around when he cries. Can just put him inside and fake the carrying feeling for a short while lorr.
