The stupid playpen is driving me nuts!!

My friend gave me a playpen (about 8 yrs old already but still in very good condition) when i had Gordon. But she only delivered it to me when Gordon turned 6 months old, so, he didnt really get to sleep in it. I only put him inside the playpen when i had to take a bath or do some household chores. The playpen is without a bassinet. Meaning, the baseboard cannot be raised to mid-height (suitable height for newborns to sleep at) as it does not have an additional upper supporting carrier hooked onto the four perimeter top railings.

If Malcolm were to sleep in it, i'll have to bend all the way down to pick him up every 2 hours for breastfeeding. That'll kill me, as Malcolm will be delivered via C-sect by choice, forget about VBAC (vaginal birth after cesarean). I gave that noble idea up long ago after i failed in my attempt of having Gordon delivered naturally sans epidural and episiotomy due to CPD.

I checked with many departmental stores and shops to see if they sell the bassinet as a separate item. But , sorry lah..... no luck. I have to buy an entire new unit. Naw, it's not an expensive item, but, what for. I already own one. Doesnt really make sense having two similar items. Well, lucky for me, my best friend has one with the bassinet. So, she brought it over for Malcolm to use during the first few months until he'll old enough to sleep at the bottom.

Happily, the both of us set it up. The last time she ever touched that thing was 6 years ago. We had a fine time figuring out which piece went where as it has quite a number of attachments. And after about half an hour.... tadaa.... it's up. Beautiful!! Well, that was yesterday evening.

Actually, i wanted to wait until hubby's back to show him the beautiful playpen. But then, Gordon keeps wanting to climb into it, so, i thought i'd dismantle it. It's taking up quite a lot of precious bedroom space also lah. I kept all the loose items first and of course the playpen is the last to go. But then hoh, the stupid snap-and-lock mechanism wont seem to budge on all four sides of the top railings. I cant get to it as it's all covered up in paddded fabric.

I did EVERYTHING. I tried all ways. DNMCH, beats me. I went to bed dreaming of why i cant dismantle one stupid playpen..... That tulan feeling..... you know what i mean? How can it be???? It's still outside in the lounge right now. I tried again just now and hurt a vein on my left palm when i knocked it against the top railing, diuuuu. Fucking painful and swelling now also. Looks like i'll have to make a trip to the shop where my friend bought it 6 years back. And all this for the sake of getting a bassinet for Malcolm......
