For the love of Gordon..................... glorious porridge.

Wake up at 9am..... wake up at 9am..... wake up at 9am..... wake up at 9am..... wake up at 9am..... wake up at 9am..... wake up at 9am..... wake up at 9am..... wake up at 9am..... wake up at 9am..... wake up at 9am..... wake up at 9am..... wake up at 9am..... wake up at 9am..... wake up at 9am..... wake up at 9am..... wake up at 9am..... wake up at 9am..... wake up at 9am..... wake up at 9am..... wake up at 9am..... wake up at 9am..... wake up at 9am..... zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Gordon and i finally went to bed at 3am this morning. Instead of counting sheep, i was chanting the above to lull myself to sleep. He thrashed about in bed for a while and fell asleep soon after. See what a lil trytophan in his system can do to him. That's the magic of milk. I should have taken some myself too to help me sleep faster but lazy lah, dont want to drag myself into the kitchen already once in bed.

As if by default setting, i woke up at 11.30am again, with Gordon all curled up into a ball of warmth right beside me. The first thing i did was to go into the kitchen and make porridge. I prepared cherry tomatoes, french beans, carrot, onions and garlic. Throw in a some dried scallop for flavour and voila, i'm done. A couple of hours in the crockpot is all it'll take.

Glorious vegetable porridge with dried scallops

For the lack of meat, i'll add a teaspoon of Udo's oil and some sprinkling of powdered cryptomonadales when it's cooled to feeding temperature before i serve it to him. My lil organic baby doesnt like suspicious food. He likes it green. Sometimes, i add beet powder to it. That'll make his porridge pink and sweet. Pumpkins turn it yellow. Gordon detests fried and oily food. Even fried eggs puts him off; oily, hard and rubbery.....ewwww.

I made enough for the both of us. Saves me the hassle of going out for food later on this evening. Porridge really does make great comfort food, dont you think so? Maybe i should steam some egg custard for him when he wakes up from his nap afterwards..... just maybe. Let's hope his Grandma will steam some cod fish for him tonight for dinner.... mmmmm.

No appointments today. I cancelled everything. I just want to spend time with Gordon today, reading all his favourite books and watching and singing to sesame street vcds on the idiot box.

Any recipes to share? Vegetarian or not is ok. Others may find it useful. And what do you mommies do to keep your toddler entertained at home?

Your porridge looks great...!!! But do u need to take out the onions for Gordon??

I seldom take porridge. I usually love the white porridge with salted fish, duck eggs, fried kembung, and all the unhealthy stuffs lar! Your porridge certainly looks good enough to try.

No, Gordon eats everything i dish out for him.

I stopped taking those stuffs long long ago ever since i conceived Gordon. Had to breastfeed him mah. And now, eat for next bebe leh..... still waiting for that lil fler to come.

And vege porridge is delicious. Especially when u add kong-yue-chi. Very sweet. Go make some tomorrow.

U have kids?

Why is the porridge like Teochew porridge one? Lu Teochew lang ar? I prefer the regular porridge, i.e. more rice volume, less water.
