Even my pc gave up on me..... :( :(
My PC conked out. It finally decided that it's had enough of crap from me. Both my notebook and pc must have conspired against me this time round. I thank my lucky stars that at least i managed to transfer every single damn file from my notebook and c:drive to the d:drive before it went dead. And i was just beginning to burn them onto cds.... *sigh*
I dont know what's wrong with me and computers. They seem to enjoy breaking down on the eve of public holidays and weekends. Just when i needed it most. Mine went kaput on Thursday afternoon..... Thursday afternoon for god sake. NIGHTMARE!! Where am i going to find a replacement pc on the 1st day of Raya? This is really insane.
Nothing much left to do, not that there's anything that i can do anyway. So, i curled up in bed, drew the blinds, made some tea, and did the unbelievable. I dug out a 4-stories-in-1 volume from Reader's Digest and spent two whole days reading it. It arrived a few months ago together with my subscription and it's been lying around since, waiting for me to pick it up, i guess.
Having not read fiction material in ages really takes a lot of getting used to. Sort of like retraining myself to read again, it's funny. I got lost several times along the way, my mind wandered away for a few seconds and i missed my storyline. Non-fiction material doesnt have names to remember, no plot to follow, only pure straightforward facts. And i've been reading only those for the past 10 yrs or so, frightening huh. YIKES!!
I went out first thing this afternoon and had my new pc configured. It's back, up and running by 6pm. Now, all i've got to do tomorrow is to burn those cds and reinstall all the relevant drivers for my printer, scanner and god knows what else i've got. I even bought a viewcam for Gordon to have fun with his cousins online. He ought to be rewarded. If not for his cup of water, i will not be blogging on my brand new pc, yeeeeehah.
More later, k.
