The day Gordon poured water over my Notebook :(

It happened last night. I walked out of my room for one minute and Gordon poured water onto my notebook. What to do? Whack him for my own carelessness? Scream at him for playing with my tumbler which i left on the table? No point crying over spilt milk, that's for sure.

I heck care whether the notebook conks out or not. All the more reason now to get a new one. In my mind, images of the Acer Ferrari and Apple Powerbooks are already flashing like screensavers. AAACK! Where was i? Sorry. FUCK! I CARE!! All my son's pics are in there. I dont care much bout the rest of the files. I want all those photos back. Those that havent been networked back to my pc.

The only way to get files out of my blardy museum piece notebook is to either network it over to my pc or upload it somewhere. The network thingy's fucked up most of the time and i dont really have the time nor patience for the latter.

So, clever me powered it off immediately. Wiped off all excess and used the hair-dryer on it. All the while hoping and praying that all my hardwork will eventually pay off by tomorrow morning.

The first thing i did when i jumped out of bed this morning was to turn the notebook on. It's a goner. The keyboard's dead. Both internally and externally. Keep registering keyboard error. Somehow, maybe i prayed hard enough and the F1 key worked and Windows successfully loaded. It was assuring, knowing that it still can work. The only keyboard that i can use is the on-screen keyboard. To what extend, i cant tell.

I havent a clue whether my external keyboard's conked out or not because my pc's without a monitor and i cant test it out. It's too big, took up too much desk space, so i threw it away. That's why i've been using my notebook all these while.

I took both my notebook and the external keyboard to the pc shop for a medical check-up. They couldnt power it on at all. Be it on purpose or what. They told me to get the notebook's keyboard changed for about RM200+, and with no guarantee that it'll work. BAH! The external keyboard's fine at least.

I decided against it and bought a new 17" Dell LCD monitor instead. My cup of water cost me Rm799. It rained when i was buying my monitor. In a hurry to leave, i forgot to buy a pen drive. It's the only conceivable way to get those precious files out for the time being.

I called up my best friend and told her my predicament; about those pics being stuck and me forgetting to buy the pen drive. You know what, she drove all the way to my house in the rain and brought me hers. Eventhough both of us have no idea whether that'll work or not. And it's a brand new one too. Awwww, how sweet of her.

And if you are reading this right now, Bi, i want you to know that i owe it to you that all my precious pics and files are now safely in my pc. MUAH MUAH MUAH!!

As for the notebook's fate, i've decided to write it off for good. No point repairing it. WOMBAT. Waste-Of-Money-Brains-And-Time.

I still have to buy new speakers and a backlit keyboard. Can anyone help me on the latter?

Hey don't feel so bad, Samm. You're talking to someone who accidently poured nail polish remover on her laptop! LOL!
