I just cannot tolerate stupidity.

We just had lunch. Hubby had to stop by the hardware shop to buy some fittings for the machines we brought back from our trip to KL. So, we side-parked opposite the hardware shop. There was an empty space in front of us and another car is parked crookedly in the space after the empty space; with its rear bout 30 degrees outside the box from my viewpoint.

Hubby went to the shop whilst i waited in the car with Gordon; singing to the ABC song playing on the car stereo. A malay lady with her daughter in a black Proton Knight drove by and parked effortlessly in the empty space in front of us soon after. Got down, and went to buy some bread from one of the shops.

It's a Saturday and there are many customers waiting to be served at the hardware shop. Hubby's been in there for ages. The malay lady came back , got into her car and started to reverse out of her parking lot. She took one heck of a long time doing that. Reverse, forward, left, right, reverse, forward, left, right.... still cannot get out.

The parking space in front of us is large enough to accomodate a lorry and yet she cant seem to be able to get out. She had no trouble parking in the first place. It's really amusing just looking at her.... all flustered and agitated. I can see her screaming at her daughter who's seated at the front passenger seat. I guess her head must be blocking the left rear-view mirror.

It's a one-way street. Being a busy and hot Saturday afternoon with lots of cars, i dont understand why she kept stopping and moving forward into the parking space again to allow the cars to pass instead of reversing all the way out. Everytime a car comes near, she'll move forward again.... cursing under her breath all the time. She'll never get out like that.

She must've tried for about 10 times, poor thing. I'm not of much help either coz there's no space for me to reverse so as to make life easier for her. I'm just seated there, watching and praying at the same time, hoping she wont knock into mine; which most likely will because everytime she reverses her car, it gets closer to mine.

If Gordon's not with me, i would have gladly helped her reverse the car. But too bad, i cant leave him alone; fat chance. She finally seeked help from a Postman, a malay chap, who just got off his motorbike; and leaving his daughter waiting by the roadside while he walked across the road to help her out. Looking at the way they talked, i can tell they do not know each other. She said something to him and both of them glared at me. Maybe blaming me for not reversing my car to let her get out. Why me? Blame the fella in front of you for parking his car in a senget way lah.

Who cares. I took out my phone and began an imaginary yak on it. Smiling all the time much to their annoyance.

That fella also had a hard time reversing it out. Most likely doesnt drive around in a car much, or maybe he doesnt own one, i dont know. Judging by the way he tries to reverse the car says it all. And all this while, the lady stood near the front of the car directing him; tip-toeing all the time, when she should be standing at the back or to the side. Oh well, eventually, he did succeed albeit looking rather embarrassed though.

And sure enough, a big cold-storage ice-cream delivery lorry/van wateva, immediately parked into the now empty space after she drove off. Didnt i said earlier that the space is large enough to accomodate a lorry? Should have taken pics instead of doing an imaginary yak just now, missed....

I dont understand why some people want to drive big cars when they have parking disabilities. I bet that woman just now will have the same problem no matter what car she drives, be it a Proton Knight or Kancil.

And for god sake, do not ask strangers on motorbikes to reverse your car for you. They might just drive off with your car, kid or no kid in it. And improve on your parking skills in your free time or quit driving once and for all.

I just cant tolerate stupidity.
