Fortune Nuts
This was what's written on the signboard behind the stall selling the item a.k.a Fortune Nuts.
I was at Jaya Jusco last night, and after dinner at Kenny Rogers, went down to the supermarket to grab some groceries. It was at the entrance of the supermarket where this stall was located. And i didn't even notice it. It's was hubby who asked whether i'd like to try some out. I thought he was referring to the ice-cream stall to which i said no. Apparently not. He led me to this stall; selling Fortune Nuts.
It's already about 9.15pm. And the Fortune Nuts were almost sold out. But the displays are still there for everyone to see. And i thought what; it's those young baby coconuts. But this time, instead of having to scoop out the flesh after you've finished drinking the juice, the coconut is dehusked; leaving behind exposed white flesh still in it's still rounded shape and with the juice inside.
The few leftover ones are completely dehusked and together with it's juice, is being sold in a small round microwaveable plastic container. For Rm3.60 each. Pressed for time, i declined the offer.
On my way to the grocery aisles, i snickered to myself. Upon seeing that, hubby demanded to know why. I asked him politely whether he knew why it's called Fortune Nuts. The answer is obviously no. I told him flatout that the guy is definitely making a Fortune selling those stuffs to you Nuts at Rm3.60 each.
"Fortune Nuts" indeed. Well named.
